Hi!
I’m Sharon, or Shaz, and I’ve spent more than 30 years working as a designer and design manager. I’ve always believed that the creative process should be enjoyable for clients, not overwhelming. When clients feel confident, informed and supported, the work is better, the collaboration is smoother, and the results last.
I’m passionate about helping people get the most out of working with designers and creative teams. Many clients love the creative part but worry about miscommunications, unclear briefs or projects drifting off course. That’s where my experience comes in. I help you understand the process, avoid costly mistakes and ensure you get results aligned with your vision.
In 1999 I co‑founded Howdy with Neil Smith, where I’m still an active partner. We’ve created brand identities and communications for organisations of every size — from global companies to sole traders, with a strong focus on charities and the not‑for‑profit sector. Many of the brands we’ve developed have stayed strong for more than a decade, evolving with their organisations while keeping their core identity intact. That longevity comes from taking the time to understand what clients really need from the very beginning.
My strength lies in design and brand management: turning challenges and ideas into clear briefs, planning and structuring projects, guiding non‑designers through the creative process, spotting risks early and bringing the right people together. I bridge the gap between the vision and the creative team, keeping everything on brief, on time and on budget.
Above all, I want the creative process to feel straightforward, collaborative and genuinely enjoyable. I work alongside clients to help them build, manage and grow their brand with clarity and confidence, and ensure every project delivers results they can feel proud of.
